I will say it again: Inspiration. Something I think that we all need at random times in our lives. It keeps us going. It keeps us focused. Hey, it can even make us who we are. Writers, painters, movie stars, sports stars, and musicians, Inspiration can outstretch it arms to even further territory. There is nothing more comforting than to see someone absolutely LOVE what they do. Enjoy what they create on a daily basis. It (Dare I say) “Inspires” me. Gives me a push to keep going in the direction I am racing in while I watch life get ahead at every corner. I find myself desperate for this push time after time when I am low on fuel and I’m trying to make it to the gas pump of $3.89 gas. But this fuel my friends, is free! All WE have to do… is find it.
I confess… I should be studying for a Philosophy test right now. But I just can’t seem to focus or enjoy it, or like it, or think it’s cool, or want to become a Philosopher. My eyes are desperately shifting to the warm and lovely pillow on the other side of the room every 15 seconds, and it is so not cool. So, naturally, I opened up my laptop and subconsciously looked for (here is that word again) “Inspiration.” The hero of tonight issssss….. dun dun dun…… the delightful Adam Young ladies and gentlemen. I don’t know about you guys, but I love me some Owl City passionately moving throughout my room. Anyways. So I decide to take a short journey through Owl City’s Myspace and check out some of the new songs from the new album, but then…. I stumbled upon a video. It was an interview of him from his hometown. Needless to say, It was AWESOME. I am a sucker for interviews! But I digress… Admist all of the clever camera work, which I wish I knew how to do, Adam was just briefly talking about what it is he LOVES to do. How he writes lyrics, how long it can take him to come up with lyrics to a song, where he works, the exact chair that he wrote every song in, all that crazy stuff. And long story short… In five minutes, I was “Inspired.” His passion for his work and his creativity had given me another push, some more fuel if you will. It’s the little things that can keep us going in the long run of the big things.
So that’s my 2 cents of tonight and I just thought I would share. It may not seem much to you, but to me, it was more than I thought I would find when I was stuck in the middle of the road with no fuel. Guys.. We just need to keep looking. Next time you get stuck, try to step back and see what you subconsciously do in the midst of the situation. How do you react? What pushes you towards your goal? For me, it’s music. It is other musicians who do exactly what I do everyday, and they are killing it! LOVING IT! Putting things together that everyone said they couldn’t put together. That’s what does it for me. What does it for you? What….. Inspires You?
